Challenge
Build a two level site to appease both general visitors and club members. Showcase the course with imagery and interactive tours. Give site administrators the ability to update all the site content quickly and easily.
Solution
IC9design developed one website with 3 sections: Visitor, Member, and Administrator.
For visitors we wanted to simply inform and present the benefits of the club. The members have an ID protected part of the site and once they enter they can access tournament and league information, sign up for a tee time, and update their profile. The administrator has a password protected section of the site where they can update 90% of the site content themselves.
Result
The visitor section includes interactive hands-on media. This lets them view the course through a tour and a course layout map. Each page holds up to 3 images of the grounds or facilities that can be clicked on to view a larger image and read the caption.
We also posted the course score card to show the rating, slope, distance, and par for each hole. It also has a few pages dedicated to visitor information; directions, a map, and the dress code policy.
The members only section of the site immediately presents the link to sign up for a tee time and a schedule of upcoming events. They can change their profile information and look up other members. They can view the golf calendar, pro shop, club bylaws, and take the new member orientation. The social and dining information is part of the members section too. Members can see the clubhouse hours, menus, and staff.
Site administrators can update and delete 90% of the website content through an intuitive interface. They can upload newsletters and new photos to their ftp site and assign them to the relevant site pages. There is an area to set up new members and to search for existing ones. They can also set up other administrators.
Glen Oak sits on 138 pristine acres and boasts a state of the art clubhouse, which along with the entire facility, offers a full range of club services for individuals, couples and families. The Board of Directors needed an updated web presence that better reflected the beauty of the grounds, the challenge of the course, and all the amenities the club provided.
Their previous website worked well in delivering information to visitors, but wasn't finely tuned to their actual members. Another goal for the new site was to add more photos of the club throughout the site. Each and every page should present a different angle of a course hole, the facilities, or the maincured grounds.
