About The BASKO Music Project
So Fly Records is a start up record label based out of Rochester, NY. Their first mainstream artist goes by B.A.S.K.O. If you saw the first Transformers move then you've heard his sound. His music is all over the networks; in shows like The OC and Numbers, and on the big screen - Transformers, Big Boi, and I Think I Love My Wife.
B.A.S.K.O.'s musical roots run deep, having collaborated with a cross-section of some of the industry’s most accomplished artists, including Ginuwine, DJ Green Lantern, Jodeci, and the legendary rhythm section of Steve Gadd and Tony Levin.
Challenge
Create a rich media site for a hip hop musician. It must present the artist and his sound. Use of audio, video, lots of imagery, and personal info will accomplish this goal.
Solution
IC9design collected video clips, singles, and lots of imagery from the group at So Fly Records. We then layed everything out in front of us and made categories for the site.
Obviously we needed a music page, a gallery page, and a video page. What we needed to do was figure out how to get the artists personality and history into the site.
A "My Life" page was created to provide a biography for visitors to learn about the roots of B.A.S.K.O. The bio uses text, but we also sprinkled in audio files of the artist talking about personal situations and stories of growing up.
Another page was the "My City" page. This one highlights some of the Rochester, New York hotspots where you might find B.A.S.K.O. It adds humor, video, and recognition to the town where he grew up and still calls home. This page will continue to be added to over time.
We added a few ecommerce areas of the site that point to iTunes and cdbaby to purchase singles. Ringtones are also available.
Result
The site has received a great response from So Fly Records and members of the hip hop music community.
We are very proud of this site and continue to be excited about the artist and his record label. The site will continuously evolve as the artist emerges into the spotlight.
