About The RSVP Business Systems, Inc. Project

RSVP is a full service provider of cost-effective enterprise software for manufacturers and service companies. RSVP's comprehensive and fully integrated software solutions provide the tools to grow and thrive through increased efficiency of your operations and effective use of key business data to meet and exceed client expectations.

RSVP works extensively with prospective new clients to fully understand critical business requirements. Their Best Overall Solution is a proven model for assisting prospects.

RSVP was looking for a website redesign with a voice that spoke to their prospects, not the technical information of their products and services. The goal was to "talk" to their visitors and provide them with answers to questions and better decision-making content. They also wanted to incorporate more interaction and support with video and downloadable PDFs.

Challenge

Restructure an entire website to create visitor paths that can be followed to deeper content. Build a new layout that provided areas for text, imagery, support documents, and video. Redesign the pages so they speak to the visitor, not dictate technical information. Do all this while keeping (and improving) their current search engine rank.

Solution

IC9design met with the RSVP team to conduct strategic approach sessions. During these sessions, each section of the site was broken down and channeled into one of 3 categories: User Interface Design, Content, and Voice.

This approach to the redesign was extremely successful. The comments and decisions we collected were used to build the site architecture, look and feel, and the content map as a visitor moved through the website.

The new site was redesigned on the IC9design test server and available to RSVP as work was ongoing. This allowed free critiquing and continuous review of the work in progress to the client.

Result

The new home page has an intro animation we created that represents RSVP as being the leader (the red ball) in their industry. It's a fitting icon that we are using on all of their print literature and company materials. The content speaks to business leaders and has a section for upcoming events and product or service updates.

Compared to their old site this one uses many more visuals to present the main points on each page. We found images that were directly related to those interested in their products and services. If we had a page that didn't warrant a photo, we created a graphic to get the message across. Some graphics explain processes, while others break down the information into understandable chunks.

Each link off the main navigation bar succeeded in moving the visitor down a path that gave more information at each click. Pop down lists were used as "drawers" to hold technical information on product pages. These pop downs allowed us to keep the page length short until the drawers were opened by the visitor. We used the same function for the clients page. This held the client bio in a hidden drawer until it was clicked on.

It's worth mentioning that RSVP also has a Canadian location. IC9design created a special Canadian home page that sets a session variable when visited. This variable flips the main banner, the footer information, and the contact page to the canadian address, phone number, directions, etc for as long as the visitor is browsing their site.
