XTreme Volleyball Club The club was created by a group of volleyball parents who were looking for a local, affordable, professionally run volleyball organization that could help their daughters improve as players, teammates, and individuals. It was also formed to help improve the level of play in the Finger Lakes Region.
This team of parents sought out the help of Kathy and Mark Robinson, the Varsity Volleyball Coaches at Bloomfield CSD, to help provide a strong teaching atmosphere and a professional attitude to their entire coaching staff. After several months of preparation, the team was able to launch a successful season in November of 1999, supporting one 18 year old team and two 16 year old teams.
The following November, the Bloomfield Varsity volleyball team went on to win the State Tournament and the word spread through the Finger Lakes Region and beyond that there was a successful club based in Bloomfield. In November of 2000, 112 girls tried out for six teams - two 18 year old teams, three 16 year old teams and one 14 year old team. The 2001 - 2002 season again yielded six teams: one 18 year old team, three 16 year old teams and two 14 year old teams.
After nine successful USAV seasons, The Xtreme Volleyball Club is beginning it's tenth this fall. The Xtreme Volleyball Club strives to help its players, parents and coaches meet or exceed their individual goals within the framework of a team setting.
The backbone of this site is our content management system (CMS). The CMS holds and saves all the club information. Just about every piece of content on every page is pulled from the CMS database. This setup allows the club administrators to control the text, photos, dates, and documents throughout the site.
Since the site needed to be updated regularly, our CMS was the first item that was built. Then the design was constructed around it. Normally we create the design with the content in mind and then build the CMS and plug it in.
We had great input from the club committee as to how the content should be presented, but were given free reign as to how the site should look. We love sites like this - it allows us to try new things and polish our skills. We went for a duotone style with color allocated to photos and headings.
The site has been very well received. Since it was launched we've made a few minor updates, but it has held together nicely and made it through its first full season unscathed.
